HOLIDAY, FL - HOLIDAY, FL - Two bank robberies happened within a couple of hours today.
The Sheriff's Office received the first call at 11:35 a.m. at the Suntrust branch at 2123 U.S. 19 in Holiday, followed by the second holdup at 12:52 p.m. at the Bank of America, 4526 U.S. 19, New Port Richey.
In both cases, no weapon was seen. Nobody was hurt.
The robber was described as a white man about 40 years old, about 6 feet tall and a thin build. He was wearing a blue ball cap, a light colored shirt and jeans. The getaway car was reported as a purple Geo Metro.
In the second robbery, the suspect is described as about 5 feet 9 inches tall, 160 pounds with a thin build, with black and white hair, a beard and mustache, wearing a blue hat, flannel jacket, black and red shirt, blue jeans and black boots.
At press time, detectives weren't yet certain if the two Monday robberies are connected, according to the news flash from Kevin Doll, the public information director for the Sheriff's Office.
Last week, two other robberies took place at Wachovia Bank at 8994 S.R. 52 in Port Richey on Oct. 16 and at Crown Bank, 4714 Mile Stretch Road, in Holiday on Oct. 18.
A suspect in those cases is believed to be Kenneth Wayne Benzo, 47, no known address, according to a Sheriff's Office bulletin. The search continues for a suspect.
