Charley Reese is the most ridiculous syndicated columnist ever. He offers only conjecture to support his views, with no serious facts or analysis. I have grown accustomed to Charley's dislike for Jews and Israel based on stereotypes long discredited, as well as his empathy for Muslim terrorists. But, his column on Oct. 6, "U.S. Losing Its Superpower Status," is mindboggling.
America is the greatest republic the world has ever known. If you think that won't be the case anytime soon, ask yourself where is the replacement? Is it the welfare states of Western Europe? Is it the Middle East still entrenched in Middle Age radicalism? Is it Japan with no natural resources to speak of?
Charley states our economy is shaky because the median income is $42,000. For a country of 300,000,000 that is phenomenal. Nobody else comes close.
Reese states that while America was able to "help crush the Axis powers in three and half years," we have not been victorious since. We could bomb our current adversaries into complete submission, as we did Germany, Japan and Italy in World War II, but that is not our purpose.
I have traveled the world, so believe me, especially those enamored with Reese, our country is the greatest.
