NEW PORT RICHEY, Fla. - NEW PORT RICHEY, Fla. - In recognition of the 30th anniversary of Pasco-Hernando Community College's College of Nursing, the school's gallery is presenting "The Faces of Caring: Nurses at Work."

The exhibit, which runs from Oct. 11 through Nov. 13, is on display in the Alric C. T. Pottberg Library of PHCC West Campus, 10230 Ridge Road. A gallery reception for the exhibit will be held Oct. 11, 4:30 - 7 p.m.

A national photography contest sponsored by the American Journal of Nursing and New York University Division of Nursing, with support from Johnson and Johnson's Campaign for Nursing's Future and the Beatrice Renfield Foundation was held recently. The winning artist's work will be displayed in the gallery show.

This special exhibit showcases contemporary photographic images of working nurses illustrating the invaluable, crucial and often silent role nurses play in helping people across the world, explains Lynn Rothman, PHCC director of marketing and public relations.

Healthcare budget cuts, job burnout, and the percentage of nurses reaching retirement age have resulted in a critical shortage of nurses.

The images illustrate the important work of nursing, as a profession grounded in science, technology and knowledge, she says.

The gallery hours are 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
