NEW PORT RICHEY, Fla. - NEW PORT RICHEY, Fla. - A county library courier was honored recently for aiding a resident from a house in flames.
William Giering was declared Employee of the Month by Pasco County commissioners for his "outstanding initiative and bravery," according to the resolution.
Since April 2005, Giering has been a courier with the Pasco County Library System , but Aug. 9 certainly was no ordinary day during his rounds.
Heading back to New Port Richey, Giering saw a house engulfed in flames off S.R. 54. He dashed into the home to see who might need help.
"Without concern for his personal safety, Bill assisted in efforts to rescue the occupant and secure the home from further damage," the award declares.
