NEW PORT RICHEY, Fla. - NEW PORT RICHEY, Fla. - Calli had flown the coop.

Calli, the beloved pet parrot of Deborah and Dale Boyll for 10 years, was nowhere to be found near the couple's Parkwood Estates home.

With Calli missing for three days, the Boylls were frantic.

Something had startled the green bird and he shot off 250 feet "faster than you can blink" while the garage door was up, Dale Boyll said.

The Boylls searched and searched for their prized parrot, but the green bird was hard to spot among the green leaves of trees. They could hear Calli, but couldn't spot him.

They called 13 people who might help rescue the bird.

Sympathetic to their plight, the general manager of Three Seasons Lawn and Landscape, Frank Randazzo, dispatched a tree crew to the Boyll residence to look for Calli.

Following tips from the Boylls, the crew discovered Calli had flown from the Boyll yard and perched high in a tree on a small island in back of the property.

The workers took a canoe over to the island. Once there, tree crew supervisor Stanley Waddington climbed more than 50 feet up a tree to reach the bird.

Calli was reunited with the overjoyed Boylls.

A video of the rescue shows Calli sitting on Waddington's finger in the Boyll living room.

The Boyll family treated the Three Seasons staff to a pizza luncheon last Thursday at the company office.

"Three Seasons wouldn't take one cent in payment" for the rescue, Dale Boyll said, so that's why the couple bought lunch for the tree crew.

"They're truly good people," he commented. "It's not all about the money. They have a good heart."
