NEW PORT RICHEY, Fla. - NEW PORT RICHEY, Fla. - His paintings trick the eye into believing there is a sense of movement through the use of blots of colorful paint.
An exhibit of Jim Singer's work, "Color in Motion," will run from Nov. 15 through Dec. 13. at the Pasco-Hernando Community College Art Gallery.
A gallery artist reception including Music with Mo will be held Nov. 15, 4:30 - 7 p.m.
Well known in New England, New York and Florida, Singer paints in a style that is reminiscent of Van Gogh.
His brush strokes are directional and swirling to form a pattern that brings order out of chaos. The completed painting is dizzying, like Van Gogh's post-impressionist masterpiece "Starry Night," yet serene, says Lynn Rothman, PHCC director of marketing and public relations.
In Florida, Singer's original oils hang in prestigious galleries around Florida, in Naples, Palm Beach, Sarasota and Tampa.
The PHCC Art Gallery is in the Alric C.T. Pottberg Library on the PHCC West Campus, 10230 Ridge Road.
Regular viewing hours at the gallery are Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Friday and Saturday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
