Daniel Lee Martin Among Hudson Seafest Headliners

The Hudson Seafest 2007 will feature local country-western singer Daniel Lee Martin as a headliner for the annual festival Nov. 9-11.

The Seafest opens Friday at 5 p.m. and runs through Sunday, Denise Isaacson, entertainment chair, reminds residents. The 23rd annual event will take place at the USA Flea Market on U.S. 19 at State Road 52.

There is no admission fee to the festival and all events and entertainment are free. Parking is $3.

Friday lineup

Friday night entertainment opens with Dusty Ward. One of the area's favorite bands, Wiley Fox, will follow.

The Friday headline act is Jim Van Fleet and the Reign.

Led by Fox 35 morning meteorologist Jim Van Fleet, the band has opened for country stars Gretchen Wilson, Dwight Yoakam and many others. They have been featured at Sea World, the Zellwood Corn Festival, Leesburg Bikefest, Orlando's Cattle Baron's Ball and other Florida festivals and events.

Saturday lineup

Saturday opens with the first "Dress Your Dog Contest. " Prizes will be awarded for best costumes.

The Richey Community Orchestra will performs a concert of movie and TV themes. Later, the Dapper Dan Band entertains with some "down-home" style folk and bluegrass music.

In the evening, the Sassy Brassy Band will take the stage. This 7-piece group, featured at the historic Derby Lane Race Track, plays Top 40, R & B and jazz.

The Saturday evening headliner is Nashville star Daniel Lee Martin. Originally from New Port Richey, Martin's down-home style has sent his albums to the top of the country charts. Daniel Lee has opened for superstars Willie Nelson, Charlie Daniels and Vince Gill.

Sunday lineup

Sunday's entertainment opens with the Hudson Middle School Jazz Ensemble. Then big band fans can catch the 42nd Street Big Band in a patriotic salute to all veterans.

Besides the concerts, the Seafest will offer a carnival, arts and crafts show, a Kid Zone, lots of food vendors and the trademark Hudson Seafest Fish Dinners. There will also be nonstop free entertainment under the big tent.
