SHADY HILLS, Fla. - SHADY HILLS, Fla. - A popular West Pasco area band will headline "An All American Celebration," a benefit Saturday for the nonprofit Pasco Pediatric Foundation.
Although its Web site refers to Wiley Fox as a country band, bass guitarist Rick Stoots calls the group's music "diversified." Its repertoire includes oldies like Roy Orbison's "Oh, Pretty Woman" and Southern rock classics.
"A lot of people who are not huge country fans end up liking our music," he said.
The five-member band has opened for entertainment notables including Tim McGraw, Charlie Daniels, Willie Nelson and George Strait.
Concert proceeds will help the Pasco Pediatric Foundation aid children in low-income families through psychological services, college scholarships for students with physical or emotional disabilities and playgrounds for special-needs children.
The foundation also provides prescription vouchers for children and fills special requests, such as wheelchair lifts and dental services.
Wiley Fox was founded in 1990 by brothers Jesse and Brandon Embry, who own Embry & Sons Auto Body and Auto Sales, in Hudson. Jesse is lead singer and plays rhythm guitar, and Brandon plays guitar.
Two other Wiley Fox members are Rick Stoots, bass, and Terry Ettel, drums.
The fifth member of the group is New Port Richey Public Works Director Tom O'Neill. O'Neill is lead guitarist and also adds another layer to the band's music with his pedal steel guitar.
Members are looking forward to the event, said Stoots.
"It's for the kids of Pasco County," he said. "All the money stays in Pasco."
"That's a huge motivation to make it a success," he added.
The benefit concert will be this Saturday, Nov. 10, at the Concourse, at Pasco Safety Town site on S.R. 52, a half-mile west of the Suncoast Parkway.
The doors will open at 6:30 and concert will begin at 8 p.m.
Tickets are $20 in advance or $25 at the door. Ticket price includes a barbecue meal and one beverage. Additional beverages, including beer and wine, will also be available.
For tickets call Dottie Liptak at 727-845-0323.
