HUDSON, Fla. - HUDSON, Fla. - First United Methodist Church, here, will open it 2007-2008 concert series with the big band sounds of Sonny Larosa's America's Youngest Jazz Band.
The event will be next Sunday, Nov. 11, 4 p.m. The church is at 13123 U.S. 19.
Sonny LaRosa, of Safety Harbor, who played with many swing bands nationwide, organized the youngest swing/jazz band in the Tampa Bay area 27 years ago.
The band features 20 musicians, ages 6 to 12. Sonny's band has won many medals and awards at jazz festivals in this country, including Preservation Hall in New Orleans, and abroad.
Classics such as "Stardust," "Satin Doll," and "Bugle Call Rag," will be performed, including the sounds of Duke Ellington, Gene Krupa and Count Basie.
Reservations will be required for this concert, available from the church office from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Friday. Tickets are $8 adults, $4 students. The public is invited.
