NEW PORT RICHEY, Fla. - NEW PORT RICHEY, Fla. - A new partnership between the Southwest Florida Water Management District and the Pasco Building Association will recognize building professionals this spring who save water in their model landscapes.
SWFWMD's Water-Wise Landscape Recognition Program will recognize builders who incorporate Florida-friendly landscaping principles into their 2008 Spring Parade of Homes entries.
There is no charge to enter models in the Water-Wise award program. Entry deadline is Jan. 31.
Awards will be presented during the Pasco Building Association's Spring Parade of Homes banquet on April 10.
The water district partners with the University of Florida's Florida Yards & Neighborhoods program to conduct the recognition program, as well as provide all educational services and materials free of charge.
Participants in the program are eligible to receive:
• Education through "how-to" workshops, one-on-one interactions, landscape plan reviews, site visits, design ideas and plant selection lists.
• Florida-friendly landscaping educational brochures for model homes.
• Lawn signage showing SWFWMD recognition.
• Displayable awards, plaques and framable certificates for builders and their subcontractors.
• Recognition of winners and nominees in local newspaper articles, press releases and advertising, and on the SWFWMD's Web site.
