HUDSON, Fla. - HUDSON, Fla. - Concert pianist Justin Kolb will perform at Hudson Regional Library on Sunday, Jan. 13.
The performance by Kolb will help launch the annual Music @ the Library series.
The concert will start at 2 p.m. at the library, 8012 Library Road.
Tickets cost $3 a person and can be purchased at the door the day of the show, beginning at 1:30 p.m.
Kolb's performances embrace music by living American composers. His more traditional repertoire centers on Beethoven and Liszt, according to library spokeswoman Linda Bragg.
Kolb is also well known for presenting works by composers he feels live in undeserved obscurity. They include Hermann Cohen, young ward of Franz Liszt, and Edward Collins, the Chicago-based friend of the Chicago Symphony, according to the biography on his Web site.
His performances have wide appeal with interesting and often humorous commentary, Bragg explains.
A popular clinician and motivational speaker, Kolb often visits colleges and universities to present his interactive lecture, "Know the Score: Inspiration and Motivation for Life After Music School."
For young audiences, he presents "Travels with a Piano Player" and "Why Music Students Excel," among his musical enrichment programs for students in grades K-12.
An advocate of arts in education, Kolb often addresses parents' groups and district school boards.
Kolb's articles have been published in Clavier magazine as well as Piano Today. He also serves as an executive on the board of directors of the American Liszt Society.
Kolb is a recipient of the Distinguished Alumnus Award from DePaul University.
