GAELIC STORM will perform Irish melodies and world rhythms as PHCC kicks off its Performing Arts Series on January 26 on the school’s West Campus in New Port Richey.

New Port Richey, Fla. - New Port Richey, Fla. - New Port Richey, Fla. - Pasco-Hernando Community College will kick off its 2008 Performing Arts Series with a lively "Celtic Sensation" in January and will finish with a tribute to "The King" in March.
The five-show series begins with Gaelic Storm on Jan. 26 at 8 p.m. on the PHCC West Campus at the 620-seat Performing Arts Center in New Port Richey, 10230 Ridge Road.
Last year's performance in front of a sold-out crowd, gave audiences a taste of their traditional Irish melody and acoustic instruments infused with world rhythms.
The five-piece band includes Ryan Lacey on drums and world percussion; Pete Purvis on Uilleann pipes, tin whistle, daeger pipes and Highland pipes; Patrick Murphy on vocals, accordion, piano, spoons, and harmonica; Steve Twigger on vocals, guitar, mandolin and bouzouki; and the newest member of the band, Jessie Burns on fiddle.
Also in the series, Legends of Vaudeville on Feb. 2 at 2 p.m. with master comedians Jeff Gardner and Jerold Goldstein bring back memories of favorite stars from the golden age of comedy, including Jimmy Durante, The Marx Brothers, Abbott and Costello and music of Al Jolson, Irving Berlin.
Entertainer, John Davidson, a television and Broadway star, will belt out country and pops songs with a bit of comedy on February 9 at 2 p.m. He has appeared on TV's "That's Incredible!" "The John Davidson Show" and in the film "Edward Scissorhands."
Embark on a musical and visual journey through the '70s featuring the classic hit songs of Billy Joel and Elton John with The Piano Men on Feb. 22, 8 p.m.
Renowned performer Dwight Icenhower is Elvis, who will swivel his hips and sing the greatest hits in a Tribute to Elvis on March 22 at 7:30 p.m. He has studied Presley's moves and music from the 1950s to the 1970s.
Ticket prices range from $23 to $30 and are available now.
Seniors receive a 10 percent discount. There is also a 15 percent discount for season ticketholders for all five shows and for groups of 20 or more.
